Welcome to Player Development Academy!

Established by Graeme Burnett & Phil O'Sullivan in 2011, Player Development Academy (PDA) is at the forefront of football player development, coach education and fitness training in Aberdeen.

PDA aims to create an environment in which players and coaches can learn and develop, ultimately allowing them to reach their full potential.

As well as football coaching, we also offer personal fitness sessions by a fully qualified (REPs Registered) trainer.

    Meet the Coaches

Graeme & Phil have a wealth of coaching experience between them, spanning over twenty years.  During this time they have acquired invaluable skills and knowledge from coaching players at all stages from 6 years old right through to senior players.  This puts Player Development Academy in a perfect position to understand what a player needs to develop in order to reach their full potential.

Graeme began his coaching career with Westdyke Community Club, taking his squad from U8's through to U17's. He enjoyed numerous successes, winning the Belmont Cup at U15's, the league and cup double at U16's followed by the prestigious treble at U17 level.  Several players in Graeme's squad have progressed in the game, many of whom are enjoying successful Highland League careers.

Graeme has also spent a number of years working for the Aberdeen F.C. community programme.  This involves coaching sessions for children between 6 and 12 years of age.   One of the primary objectives of these sessions is to develop the individual ball skills of players from an early age.

Graeme has experience as a first team coach with Highland League team Deveronvale F.C., where he also held the role of 'Head of Youth Development'.  He was in this position for four years and during this time brought six first team players through the ranks at the Vale.

Graeme holds numerous SFA qualifications and is accredited under the Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS) initiative.

Graeme is also heavily involved with the Russell Anderson Development School (RADS).

Phil has worked in both Scotland and his native Ireland.  He began his football coaching career with Castleknock Celtic in Dublin, whom he also played for.  He spent three years managing the senior squad, successfully leading them to two cup finals and a league title.

From there, Phil moved to Aberdeen where he joined the development squad coaching staff at Highland League team, Deveronvale F.C.  Phil is also involved with Westdyke community Club.  Having previously won the league at U16 level, Phil is now part of the coaching team for the 2011 year group.

As well as holding various SFA and FAI qualifications, Phil holds the prestigious UEFA B Licence.  In addition, Phil is a CYQ Personal Trainer (Level 3), CYQ Gym & Fitness Instructor (Level 2) and a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) Instructor.

"professional in what they do"

My son, Ronan, has been attending individual sessions, on a regular basis, with Graeme and Phil, of Player Development Academy, since September 2015 when he was six years old.
This has become an integral part of his football development, and indeed, enjoyment. When we have not been there for a period of time he always asks the question "when am I going to see Graeme and Phil?".

Both are very enthusiastic, dedicated, extremely knowledgeable and, above all, professional in what they do. We have been given strength and flexibility programmes and technique development plans for various football skills.

Each, and every, session is well planned out and every drill, or exercise, done for a reason. They have helped Ronan's balance, flexibility, strength and skills and are now working on his game awareness with related drills.

During his time working with Graeme and Phil, Ronan was selected for Aberdeen FC's Advanced Skills Centre and is now with one of the top boy's clubs in this area.

I would have no hesitation in recommending PDA to anyone, of whatever age, wanting to develop as a footballer in an enjoyable environment.
